    Studying the behaviours and abundance of marine animals has always been a challenge for scientists. However new technology is starting to offer new and inovative ways of studying the underwater world. Marine Scientist and Master student Martina Lonati shows how a she is colaborating wit James Cook University and the Australian Institue of Maine Science to apply exciting new technologies to study some of the oceans most mysterious inhabitants: sharks!

    The Kuranda Tree Frog (Litoria myola) is a critically endangered frog found only around the town of Kuranda in North Queensland. This short film explores the invaluable work the Kuranda community, alongside scientists and traditional owners, have played in securing this species protection.

  • Mo'unga Afi - Mountains of Fire

    Client: James Cook University/ Nat Geo

    The Kingdom of Tonga is made up of over one hundred and seventy islands. While most people are familiar wih the poplated limestone islands to the East, there is a chain of very active volcanic islands in the country’s west. They form some of the most dynamic natural environments in the world.
    This video was produced as part of a research grant with help from the Tongan Ministry of Fisheries to help raise awareness about the world heritage value of these volcanic islands.

    Dr Jon Hanger and his team at Endeavour Veterinary Ecology work hard to protect the koalas of south-east Queensland. We produced this story for EVE as a showcase to clients and staff the work they do and the services they can provide to ensure developments have the best outcomes for koalas.

    Client: Australian Institute of Marine Science

    The EcoRRAP team at the Australuian Institute of Marine Science are using the latest technology to develop new and innvative methods for studying the health of coral reefs on the GBR. To make this video we were comissioned to film the underwater and operations at sea.

    Client: Victorian National Parks Association

    Four times every year the VNPA ask victorians to go out an photograph as many Sea Slugs as they can. It is one of Victoria’s biggest citizen science projects. We were contracted to produce this short piece about the SSC and the people who participate.

    The second “Beneath the Waves” video, written and narrated by Jack, from Lacelid Productions, and featuring stunning visuals filmed and edited by Grassland Film this collaboration explores the underwater world of Bunurong Marine Park, and was featured in the 2023 Summer by the Sea program. It also features Swell Shark footage gathered by Lacelid Productions for Parks Victoria.

  • Marine Parks footage requisiton.

    To help celebrate the 20th anniversary of Victorias Marine Park network. Parks Victoria contracted Lacelid Productions to gather underwater video of Port Phillip Heads and Bunurong marine parks. The footage has since been used in several videos published by Parks Victoria.

  • Summer By The Sea Webinars

    The Summer By The Sea program is a series of free coastal activities facilitated by Coatscare Victoria. We were contracted to deliver two online webinars: “Eagle Eyed Rockpooling: The intertidal World of Eagle Rock Marine Sanctuary” and “5 Places to add to you snorkel list this summer”. Showcasing some of our best photos and footage from right across the state.
